BIO

Originally from Summerville, SC, I now live, teach, and play in Columbus, OH. I received Masters Degrees in Percussion Performance and Musicology from Ohio State University and a Bachelors in Performance from the University of South Carolina. Along with my extensive background in classical percussion, I’m an avid fan and performer of various folk music styles, having studied West African drumming, Zimbabwean mbira, Irish bodhrán, Irish and Scandinavian guitar, and North and South American folk percussion.
As an Irish musician, I perform regularly with Roscommon Sessions and have collaborated with Killashandra, members of The Kells, and local musicians Randy Clepper and Mick Broderick as a part of their Trad Nua series. In Spring of 2024, I placed first in the Over 18 Bodhrán Competition at the Midwest Fleadh Cheoil.
As a Zimbabwean musician, I have studied with Erica Azim, Musekiwa Chingodza, and Patience Munjeri. I perform mbira and marimba music with the Zuva project based out of Pickerington, OH.
I currently teach lessons in the Columbus area at Gahanna High School, Kenyon College, Otterbein University, and Muskingum University, where I also teach Steel Drum Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and Popular Music Ensemble. I’m also a licensed Kindermusik instructor and teach classes to children aged 0-6 at Learn Sing & Grow in Dublin, OH.
As a teacher, I like to take a holistic approach to music education, hoping to encourage lifelong musicians through social engagement and creative music-making. When not getting excited about music, I can be found drinking coffee, carving wooden spoons, spending time with my partner Sarah, or petting my cats.
